About the Actor

Rashi Bunny is an Indian Theatre and Cinema actor. She is known for her Solo plays Bhisham Sahni's ‘Madhavi’ and Manjula Padmanabhan's ‘Hidden Fires’ with director Arvind Gaur. Rashi Bunny was selected as "one of the 50 Icons: Emerging personality of India" by Sahara India group. Acted as lead actress in Duvidha film. Her solo Hidden Fires was invited for Queen's Award Project (UK) for Communal harmony.

She started her theatre career with Living Theatre Academy under Ebrahim Alkazi. Rashi trained in Theatre arts and design at University of Alabama at Birmingham & Rutgers University, U.S.A. Critically acclaimed for her acting in Tatt Niranjana, Tara (Asmita, Delhi), Char Sau Karod Bhulakar & Gali Chahat Wali (Padatik, Kolkata) in India, Abundance, Taming of the Shrew & Feiffer’s People in the USA. She has been awarded for her performance by esteemed organizations in India, Russia, Armenia and France.

Rashi founded Banjara Theatre group and has directed many plays by Indian authors like Girgit, Kya Yahi Pyaar Hai, Daldal, Srishti Ka Aakhiri Aadmi, Bandar Kaun, Celebration Of Absurdist Theatre - Teen Apahij, Daldal, Swaha-Swaha, Pahle Aap, Bakri, Deewaren Kuchh Kehna Chahti Hain, Gadhe, Haathi Ki Po(N), Aalaa Afsar, Hazrat…Insaan Ka Tamasha, Hidden Fires and for children she has written and directed various musicals including Kya Yahi Life Hai, Education Gives Real Freedom, Veer Abhimani, Aazadi Muft Nahin!, Tun Tun Tun Tun Tana Bana, , Baeda Dekho Ki & Gopi Gayen Bagha Bayen (Sukumar Ray), Kena Kemal Becha Malamal (Badal Sircar) latest being Ujla Tota Sabz Pari for Nehru Centre, Mumbai.

Rashi Bunny has conducted Theatre workshops at IIT’s, IIM, various schools, colleges and NGO’s all over the country. Her “I Have a Dream” workshop for self exploration and creative expression” are well known. She was guest faculty at NIFT and has lectured widely in schools, colleges and institutes of repute in India and abroad on Theatre as a Tool for Integral Education.

She is recipient of “Ruby Lloyd Aspey Scholarship” for academic and artistic excellence USA, Special Award for poetry in English, All India Poetess Conference, Young Artist and Junior Fellowship for Theatre from Department of Culture, Govt. of India. Awarded for Madhavi in The Second International One Man Show Festival In Yerevan, Armenia and Best Director for the Children’s play “KitneTaare, Kitne Bulb” at the National Science Drama Competition, Birla Industrial & Technological Museum. Under MHRD fellowship she has written a much appreciated Thesis on Padmashri Ratan Thiyam’s Theatre.
